SHEREEN ALI

INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PRODUCER

Shereen is an Irish-Iraqi Producer from Co Armagh, Northern Ireland who after studying in London started her career producing commercials in Doha, Qatar for international clients such as Qatar Airways, Al Jazeera, Pulse and the BBC. She was mentored by Producer Ed Guiney and Element Pictures during her time at the National Film and Television School where she graduated from the Producing MA in 2018. 

After graduating she started developing a slate of film projects with her company Story Horse Pictures. FRANK’S JOKE the BAFTA long-listed animation was commissioned by the BFI and the BBC and broadcast on BBC4 in December 2018. The film travelled to festivals around the world including SXSW and Edinburgh International Film Festival and featured as Short of The Week. Her other short films have screened at BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals around the world and in 2019 she was invited to be part of the jury for the short film competition at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. 

Shereen is in development on the feature film A HEALTHY STATE OF SUFFERING written by Rosamund Attwood, other projects in development include EXES FOR THE APOCALYPSE a Cardiff set zombie-romcom developed by Ffilm Cymru Wales and the feature film IN THE NAME OF PLEASURE written by Lisa Clarkson and developed with the assistance of Short Circuit and Screen Scotland.

In 2023 Shereen produced animated segments for the Netflix documentary HOW TO ROB A BANK from the producers of the Emmy winning AMANDA KNOX which was released in 2024. She also worked as Head of Production at Fred Films for seven years where she worked on films such as FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS, BLITHE SPIRIT, COME AWAY and MOTHER’S PRIDE.

Shereen first joined the SHUDDER FILMS team as an Associate Producer on DAUGHTER OF EDEN the debut feature by writer-director Fateme Ahmadi before officially moving in house as an International Development Producer.

Living and working abroad for 15 years, Shereen has recently returned to the island of Ireland, now based in Belfast.
